Also, plan to attend the covered dish MG social at 5:00pm at Garden #8.

Farmers Market - New Volunteeer Opportunity

The "Farmers Market" opened on Saturday, May 10, 2008.
On Saturday, May 17, Joe Maple & Charlie Gray will launch our support of the Market as the first MGAP volunteer team for 2008.
We will provide volunteers two Saturdays each month:
  • May 31
  • June 14
  • June 28
  • July 12
  • July 26.
Contact Jerry Hightower - aahightower@msn.com - to participate in this Volunteer opportunity. This is a good opportunity to recruit prospective students for the 2009 class.

MGAP Mission Statement


  • The Master Gardener Association of the Piedmont (MGAP) is an organization in Spartanburg County, South Carolina that trains residents in horticultural topics, sponsors volunteer projects in the community, and provides the Clemson Extension Service with trained volunteers. Members must pass a Master Gardener certification course. Current active membership is 236.
  • The MG program is led by a state coordinator who is a member of the Clemson University Horticulture Department.
    Guidance is provided by a statewide advisory committee that is made up of Master Gardners and Extension personnel from throughout S.C.
